The project was the winner of a two stage design competition conducted by the Government of Maharashtra for the development of University Complex at Nashik.
The heavily contoured site was itself the guiding factor. The curved form of the main Administration Block is evolved from the adjoining hillock.
The Mandana cladding stone emphasizes the monumentality of the structure. The building has a central circulation spine which expands vertically and the skylights keep the corridors well lit.
The multi-level reading area of the library overlooks a large quarry on the site which was transformed into a water body, by means of water conservation.
